Vegans of tumblr, listen up. Harvesting agave in the quantities required so you dont have to eat honey is killing mexican long-nosed bats. They feed off the nectar and pollinate the plants. They need the agave. You want to help the environment? Go back to honey. Your liver and thyroid will thank you, as well. Agave is 90% fructose, which can cause a host of issues. Bye.

So let me get this straight ,vegans should stop eating the food of the Mexcian long-nosed bats, because the bats need it, and instead vegans should instead eat honey, the food of bees, that their larvae need, even though the bee populations are facing ecological issues as it stands.

10/10 post, dude.

LOUDER FOR THE VEGANS IN THE BACK: use honey, not agave! Bees need your support and other animals need agave! Using honey means more bees!!

Other animal products that are absolutely fine to use because they produce it in excess:

- Wool. Sheep need to be sheared or their wool will get excessively large, matted and gross. Its legit just a haircut. Calm down and use wool instead of whatever fake acrylic microplastic shit they have in stores now. Wool is super warm, insulating, and guess what! It grows back! Its a renewable resource and all the sheep want in return is some good pasture and protection from predators.

- Eggs. I’m not talking about storebought eggs. Go to your local farmer’s market. Find someone around with chickens/ducks. These birds produce eggs literally every day and will not stop unless they are molting, brooding, or kept in the dark for most of the day. Like I am not joking when I say you can very easily find someone with poultry and they will beg you to take some eggs. Theres so many. Please. Take some duck eggs. I dont want them. I had 8 laying ducks last year. Thats 8 eggs every day. Thats 2 dozen eggs every THREE DAYS. Thats SO MANY EGGS PLEASE TAKE SOME EGGS

Reducing animal cruelty does not mean abolish the use of animal products. Go eat honey. Go use wool. Go find a friend with birds and eat eggs, or get your own. Just because it comes from an animal does not make it cruel.

More people should keep dairy goats.

For clarification, though, honey bees are not the ones threatened with extinction (although they face similar threats to other bees); it’s other bees like bumble bees, mason bees, mining bees, etc. that are in trouble.

The best things you can do for bee conservation

  • plant flowers native to your region to provide them with food. If you’re located in the USA you can start here (don’t know as much about other places sorry)
  • avoid using lawn and garden insecticides if at all possible. That stuff you can buy at Lowe’s that says it kills 200+ types of insects? Yeah, anything that affects such a broad range of bugs is lethally toxic to bees. These chemicals are also highly dangerous to you, so think long and hard about it.
  • let other people know! tell your friends about the cool bees!

This bee is called the Perplexing Bumble Bee. Its scientific name is Bombus perplexus. You’re welcome.

Hello, friends! We have achieved 100 preorders on @mechanicalheartzine, which means that the physical merch has been unlocked! To celebrate and push for our final goal of 150 preorders, here's another sneak peek of the piece I've done! If we get to our goal, the second half of the merch will be unlocked as well as added for everyone who ordered the first half of the set free of charge.

Be sure to check it out here! Preorders close January 17th ❤️

!!!PREORDERS ARE NOW OPEN!!!

 https://mechanicalheartzine.bigcartel.com

In case you missed our twitter announcements yesterday, here’s a recap: Happy 35th and 29th anniversary to Megaman and Megaman X! To celebrate, we are launching preorders for Mechanical Heart: A Megaman Zine!

Here’s what to expect, and what new items you might be able to see in the coming months! The first product available for pre-orders at this time is the digital version of the zine. From this package, you can purchase the zine PDF ($10), digital merchandise ($7), or all digital items ($15). The second product that you’ll see in the shop is the physical zine ($20), which will be printed in A5 size. You might be wondering why this doesn’t also mention physical merch.

That’s because physical merchandise will be put under stretch goals!

Our first stretch goal is 100 preorders. Once we reach that point, we’ll release the first half of our physical merch, which consists of 5 button pins, 2 sticker sheets, and 2 acrylic charms. Our next stretch goal will be 150 preorders. This will unlock the second half of physical merch: 2 acrylic pins, 1 photocard, and 1 watercolor print. When this goal is reached, the existing physical merch package will be upgraded to additionally include these items.

We’d like to thank everyone again for your amazing support so far! We’re beyond excited to start the next phase of the zine!

It's so important to remember that tumblr is bad. Has been bad. And will likely remain bad for the foreseeable future. And that is vital to our survival. If Tumblr was a good website that worked, it would get turned into a corporate hellscape like every other site. It's so important that Tumblr is broken and poorly run and impossible to effectively navigate. It's all that's keeping us safe.

tumblr management know we feel this way though. They’ve just added trackers to sharing urls/links. The first step to targeted advertising, yay!

don’t get complacent about the possibility of tumblr becoming a corporate hellscape

remember that ANY text in a link after a ? is only tracking information and can ALWAYS be safely removed

Quick summary of the (I think) easy way I've been getting around this now:

  1. When you copy a link, it'll come in the format https://at.tumblr.com/[blog name]/[post number]/[tracking junk] (brackets are just for show, don't include those!)
  2. Delete the tracking junk. That's anything after the post number.
  3. Replace the "at" before tumblr.com with [blog name]. Replace where [blog name] used to be with "post" (no quotation marks).
  4. Your final format should be https://[blog name].tumblr.com/post/[post number]
  5. Share the link! It should go directly to the post and not route through any app store or tracking nonsense.

Hope this helps someone!

i hate it when i’ll have criticism for a piece of media and people will go “oh. you must not understand the in-universe explanation/theory that i just made up. i’ll explain it to you like you’re an idiot and invalidate your problem with it”

like that one post someone made criticizing kingdom hearts for the blatant colorism of the only dark skinned characters being villains and someone was basically like “the villains have dark skin because darkness is evil and it goes with the series’s themes! hope this helps!” like holy shit how can you not see the problem with that
